Low Water

Water levels have been very low in area lakes since early this summer, and it's just getting worse.  These photos were taken during the height of the summer heat.  Even at dawn the heat was unbearable and the insects voracious.  You can see the roots on the cypress trees where the water level normally reaches.

This exposed lake bed was torturous to walk on, like individual sponges.
