It was cold the day we found the Grim open and inviting again. It was colder inside the vast and drafty old hulk. We saw evidence of inhabitants in some of the rooms, including a cat box and feeding bowls, and cats, of course. The decay of the roof continues. A few other explorers stepped in for a brief inspection. This time we thoroughly investigated the basement as well as all the better lit floors.
If only someone could step up to the plate and resuscitate her...... Am somewhat envious of those who visited her in her former glory---and regardless of condition would love to explore within her walls. I do wonder how certain folks gained access to her several years back....and have since encountered a few minor odds & ends (garnered from her by one of the priveleged few) at a local estate sale
I would have loved to have stayed there in the past to know what it looked like then and to see it now. Sadly I can't I do wish someone could buy her. I and my friend are hoping eventually we get enough money or win the lottery several times to buy her. But if not we would love to some day visit the inside.
The place about looks the same as when I explored back in 1995; it had only been close for 5 years at that point. The roof edge looks worse; the ceiling appears to have fallen in some rooms, namely close to the spray painted wall of the grim reaper. I have reoccurring dreams about the place and I am not sure why. I wish they would either bring it down or renovate it; finally close the chapter of what used to be.
I visited The Grim when I was about 7 or 8 years old. I was facinated even in the disrepair she was in then ..nothing as bad as today..the black and white tiles were still in place in lobby and there was carpet going up stairs off to the left of check in counter poor older people lived there then i guess...it was about 1983 or 84 ..the ballroom still had party favors laying on the floor ..streamers..horns etc. I can close my eyes and still see the stairwell, ballroom, check in counter and checkered black and white tiles ..which no longer gleamed by any means but was as clean as any worn-out place could be. The stairs felt spongy and the carpet was a musty looking darkish yellow? or perhaps brown.. I got up 4 stairs before my mother caught me ..My only hope was to find pictures of the Grim but i have not seen or found any. I too hope one day someone takes on the project of restoration. If I had only known she would be derilict and shutup 10 years later i would of begged to explore.
I love your pictures! I haven't explored the Grimm since about 2001. I see someone else here has recurring dreams involving this old place. Ever since my first time in it I have the random dream about it. I miss living in T-town because I would love to have one more trip through the Grimm
I got to see it today with my family, it was pretty neat. Got some pictures but couldn't go inside.. Sadly. But I did mange to catch a figure in one of the windows.. Kinda creepy, I wanted to see if anyone else had any experiences with the hotel. It would have been wonderful if we would have been able to go inside. This hotel has my attention and I really wanna learn more about its history
i have experienced the same exact thing as you.... it is on the 4th or 5th floor, and it is a silouette of a pearsons, sholders, and head, staring down at us taking a picture of the side of the building!@ please tell me what to do!
How can you go in the legal way? I read on one site where a man occasionally opened the doors for donations you could tour. Is there any truth to it? My husband is a cop in Oklahoma I wouldn't feel right breaking in but I want to explore it so badly that it would almost be worth the trouble just to look.
